Hi everyone! Erin asked me to make a guest appearance on the Costa blog today. While today is technically "fall break" for UNC dental students, I'm still studying all day long for my FINAL anatomy exam on Monday - I absolutely can not wait for that class to be finished! Dental school has been and continues to be extremely challenging and time consuming, but I'm doing very well and attempting to spend any additional time I have with Erin & friends.
Last Saturday Erin and I volunteered at the soup kitchen in Chapel Hill with some dental school colleagues. Erin cooked up some delicious squash & bean casserole while I made the biggest salad I've ever seen. We had a great time serving anyone who wanted a warm (delicious) meal and we will continue to do that once every month.
Also, last weekend Bekah and Christian (aka Diaper-boy) came to visit Uncle Mike & Aunt Erin! While I stayed home to study for a horrible Biochem exam, the ladies and Diaper-boy went pumpkin picking! Erin got some amazing photos of Christian picking out (and throwing) pumpkins.
As everyone in NC knows, the State Fair is in full swing! Last night Erin & I went with the group and ate lots of fried food, chocolate covered bananas, giant turkey wings and of course the Krispy Kreme Burger (well, at least Jason, Steve and I did). Despite the way it sounds, the Krispy Kreme Burger was quite delicious, albeit very messy! I went on my first ferris wheel ride (believe it or not) with Erin and fortunately for Irene being around, I wasn't the most nervous participant! Also, Irene & I will never fall for the "Spider lady" trap again - while I was hoping to see some interesting genetic mutation (I'm a science geek remember?) we ended up seeing some dumb optical illusion that was clearly fake :(
Erin & I are still waiting to hear back from the Navy - hopefully pretty soon, so everyone keep your fingers crossed! In the meantime, I hope everyone is doing well, I apologize for not being super accessible, but I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone as this semester starts to come down the hill. :)
